Added

Date an entry when it really happened

Every entry now has a publish date you can set. A release that shipped last Tuesday can say last Tuesday, and older history can go in at its real dates.

Your changelog is ordered by that date, so a backdated entry takes its proper place in the timeline rather than jumping to the top.

Changed

Subscribers confirm before they are added

Leaving an address on your changelog now sends a confirmation link first, and the address joins your list only when someone follows it from that inbox. Nobody can sign a colleague up by typing in their address, and your list holds only people who asked to be on it.

Links in our emails also no longer do anything just by being opened. Company mail scanners open every link in a message before the reader sees it, which could confirm or unsubscribe someone who never clicked. Every link now lands on a page with a button instead.

Added

A dark theme for your public page

Pick Light or Dark in Settings and your public changelog is drawn to match. Dark is for products whose own site is dark, so the changelog sits inside it instead of glowing in the middle of it.

Your accent colour carries across either theme, and the preview in Settings shows the result before you save.

Fixed

Two subscriptions after a failed payment

A subscription whose payment had failed and gone unpaid was not counted as live by the check that stops a second checkout, so it was possible to start another one and end up with two subscriptions at Stripe.

Unpaid now counts like every other state Stripe still holds a subscription in. Any attempt to subscribe again goes to the billing portal to settle the existing one instead.

Added

Images on entries

Attach a screenshot or a short animated GIF to any entry and it appears on your public changelog, between the title and the text.

PNG, JPG, WebP and GIF are accepted, up to 5 MB each. Every upload is decoded and re-encoded on the way in, so whatever metadata the original carried is gone before we store it, and an animated GIF keeps its frames. The badge on your own site stays text-only.

Changed

Search that updates as you type

The search box on your public changelog now filters as you type, without a page reload, and clearing it brings everything back straight away. It still works as a plain form with JavaScript off.

It matches titles and body text, only ever among published entries. Your own search in the dashboard covers drafts too, and paging through results keeps the query.

Changed

Your logo and tagline on the public page

Upload a logo in Settings and it replaces the default mark beside your name on the public changelog. Add a tagline and it appears under the name, where the word “Changelog” otherwise does.

Logos are PNG or JPG up to 2 MB, and go through the same re-encoding as entry images. Both are optional; leave them out and the page looks as it did.

Added

Custom domains

Serve your changelog from your own hostname, changelog.yourcompany.com rather than an address on ours.

Add the hostname in Settings and point a CNAME at us. It goes live once the DNS check passes; we issue and renew the certificate for you, and your relnotely.com address keeps working alongside it.

Added

One email per release for your subscribers

Readers can leave an email address on your changelog and hear from you each time something ships: one email per published entry, with the title, a short excerpt and a link to your changelog. Drafts and edits send nothing.

Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can see who is on the list, and remove anyone who asks, from your workspace settings.
